The NBA has the day off as we wait for the Oklahoma City Thunder to host the Denver Nuggets on Sunday in Game 7, but there's a massive Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets, as well as 15 games on the MLB schedule. With a win, the Jets force Game 7 at home. But if the Stars win, they advance to the Western Conference Finals against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Winnipeg Jets (+117, 5.5) at Dallas Stars, 8:00 p.m. ET

The Jets had the best record in hockey this year but have had an up-and-down postseason, needing seven games and a crazy finish to beat the St. Louis Blues in Round 1, and they now find themselves down 3-2 to the Dallas Stars as the series heads back to Texas. The Stars are 5-1 at home during the playoffs, and they've won both home games this series. Winnipeg kept its season alive with a 4-0 win on Thursday at home, and the Jets need a road victory to defeat the Stars and bring the series back north of the border. 

Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck is the player to watch in this one. He's the likely Hart Memorial Trophy winner as the league's MVP, but he's had extreme home and away splits this postseason. He's allowed fewer than two goals per game at home in these playoffs, including two shutouts this series against Dallas. But he's allowing a whopping 4.8 goals per game on the road.

Best MLB bets today

Seattle Mariners (+163, 8.5) at San Diego Padres, 8:40 p.m. ET

The Mariners jumped out to an early lead in the AL West but have struggled more of late, dropping consecutive series to the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees at home before hitting the road for 10 games, including three in San Diego against the Padres, who have been one of the better teams not just in the National League, but all of baseball to begin 2025. Seattle took Game 1 of the "Vedder Cup" on Friday thanks to a trio of homers from J.P. Crawford, Rowdy Tellez and Cal Raleigh while San Diego's bats couldn't cash in against rookie right-hander Logan Evans, who pitched six scoreless innings in his fourth MLB start. 

Saturday's pitching matchup sees Seattle send Emerson Hancock (1-2, 6.91 ERA) to the mound while San Diego counters with Nick Pivetta (5-2, 3.05 ERA), who has the 14th-shortest odds for the National League Cy Young at FanDuel. Both pitchers are coming off lackluster starts as Hancock got roughed up to the tune of seven earned runs in his last start against the Yankees and Pivetta lasted just four innings and gave up six runs to the lowly Colorado Rockies.
